Ergonomics Evaluation of Bottle and Can Openers Design

چکیده
The objective of this study was to examine the effect of bottle and can openers, operating postures on flexion angles of the hand; muscles activities and subjective rating when opened bottle caps and cans. Twenty participants performed two-bottle uncapping and two can opening tasks with five bottles and can openers on two operating postures (i.e. standing and sitting postures). In addition, the joint angle sensors were mounted on the neutral axis of wrist and elbow respectively and the electromyogram system were measured the muscle strength. Results of the experimental study indicated that can opener #3 had the smallest elbow active angle than others and can opener #2 used the smallest muscle strength than others. As expected, the muscle strength was greater and flexion angle of elbow was greater but elbow active angle was smaller while performed the open bottle cap tasks on standing posture. The flexion angle of elbow was greater but elbow active angle was smaller while performed the open can tasks on standing posture. Furthermore, the elbow angle was greater while performed open beer bottle cap task than open cola bottle cap task. The elbow angle was greater and elbow active angle was smaller while performed open milk can task than open corn can task. A good designed tool of bottle and can opener must consider it can let user has smaller muscle strength and has smaller flexion angle and active angle of hand.

متن کاملEvaluation function of drinking ease from aluminum beverage bottles relative to optimum bottle opening diameter and beverage type.
In recent years, aluminum beverage bottles having screw tops with opening diameters of 28 and 38 mm have been launched in the Japanese market in keeping with the modern-day drinking habits of consumers. Although Japanese consumers are familiar with such bottles, a majority of them feel that the 28 mm opening is too small and the 38 mm opening is too large. Therefore, we felt the need to develop...

Background and aims :Prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) is high among office workers. Long time seated posture, working with computer, repetitive movements and inappropriate environmental conditions may have causal effects in these disorders. High prevalence rate of MSDs makes ergonomics assessment and working conditions improvement necessary. Designing an assessment checklist and ...
متن کاملTexture assessment of automobile dashboard: An integrated approach on industrial design and ergonomics
In this paper, the main objective is ergonomics evaluation of automobile’s dashboard to devise suitable designs based on textures and patterns. Undoubtedly appropriated dashboards' design based on textures might be ended to more driving safety, in which the tactile-real and visualimplied texture of a surface should be considered. In this study, data was gathered by in-depth observa...

Human-human joint-action in short-cycle repetitive handover tasks was investigated for a bottle handover task using a three-fold approach: work-methods field studies in multiple supermarkets, simulation analysis using an ergonomics software package and by conducting an in-house lab experiment on human-human collaboration by re-creating the environment and conditions of a supermarket. Evaluation...
